This isn’t a typical “review” per say since I have already reviewed Illuminae, but it’s really just a PSA: If you have not listened to the audio verisons of these books, you are truly doing yourself a disservice! I own physical copies of both these books (that’s how I originally read them) and in preparation for Obsidio’s release on March 13th, my friend suggested I listen to the audio (since it has a full cast of characters and awesome sound effects) I was leary at first since audio books aren’t necessarily my thing, but since I had the physical copies and I wanted to re-read them anyway I thought I’d take a shot with the audio and just follow along in the hard copies. Boy was I glad I did! Compared with the unique format of the physical copy, this series is like a work of art! The sound effects, the artwork, the cast of characters, (and the GENIUS writing styles of Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff!!) it all brought the story to life! I didn’t think it was possible for me to love these two books anymore than I already do, but the audio verisons just brought it up soooooo many notches for me! I highly recommend you listen to the audio (especially if you need a reminder on where the story left off before the third book comes out!) But seriously, do yourself a major favor and follow along with the hard copy of the book as well. I swear it is such an intense experience like no other! It definetly gave me a new appreciation for this story!
